My Grandma and Grandpa got married in 1941, when my Grandma was 30 and my Grandpa was 37. They were definitely late bloomers. Grandma had rejected many proposals from men from her hometown because she knew they were not the man for her. One day while living in Beach Haven, NJ for a summer job (she was a teacher during the school year), she met my Grandpa (he was a sailboat captain). They fell in love and got married a while later. They had two children and three granddaughters. They loved to travel and once they retired travel very often. Then in 1985 then moved to be their granddaughters. They were married for 47 years before my Grandpa died, and Grandma spent her last 18 years without her beloved husband. She talked about him often and missed him dearly. While she could still drive she would visit the cemetary every week at least once. She always called him "Daddy". Here are a few pictures from their life together.

What a great love story. They were very lucky to have found each other, and you are very lucky to have been able to have them as an example. May we all find such love! Thanks for sharing and Happy Love Thursday!
Hi Lucy! I can't remember how I found this but wanted to say I love your writing, love your pictures, and as a little girl my summers were spent in Beach Haven, and so this post struck a chord.
Your grandparents are so handsome and their love is inspiring.
Be well,
Mary Grace
Thanks Mary Grace! Hope you guys are well up in NY.
