Cat turning into a dog

So lately our lovely cat, Albert, has apparently decided he wants to be a dog. In the past few weeks he has taken to eating out of the trash can. Last week it was pomegranate skins, yesterday it was bread crusts. And to make things even more exciting, last night I made a pizza and cut it up on the cutting board and then took some slices to the living to watch tv and eat my dinner. When I went back into the kitchen, the little stinker had taken a slice of pizza off the counter and was eating it on the floor. What are we doing wrong? I promise we feed him at least twice a day, sometimes more. Apparently pizza is just way better than cat food.
